Customer Review: Best bang for the buck
This TV is worth every penny, this is by far the best and most amazing picture I have ever seen. I haven't even seen it in 1080P yet I look froward to some blu ray action soon.
Customer Review: Sony's creme de la creme
Sony Bravia XBR KDL-52XBR6 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV I have this TV for about 2 weeks now. Picture is crisp and well detailed, colors are beyond words can describe, black levels are really good as in you see every detail in any dark/grayscale scene while the blacks remain truly black. I was comparing side by side the black levels to Samsung's 850 series, and although the black on Samsung seems to be darker (due to their glossy screen) it didn't show any details in dark scene, just a big black spot... Sony actually shows you the picture as it's meant to be. The color range offered by the 10 bit panel & processor is very vivid. the 120hz Motion flow is perfected and honestly you cannot tell the difference if you purchase the 240hz in XBR7, you just pay almost 2,000.00 extra for a feature you won't feel. If you are watching this TV in pitch black room and you have a pitch black scene (with nothing but black in it) you will feel "the clouding effect" aka Mura, but it's not even worth mentioning since this is only viewable if nothing else was on the TV... I did the calibration using DVE bluray disk and using the THX. i want to say the the DVE was more detailed and specific than THX, but the calibration is highly recommended. I hooked the TV to my PS3 and the whole experience was beyond Amazing... on my previous SDTV i could hardly read anything in the PSN now it's all crystal clear and beautiful. Colors are so vivid, games are beyond amazing... playing it now feels much better than playing the huge screen video games at the arcades when i was a kid. Blurays are better than going to the movies by 10 times, i no longer want to go see a movie in theater, would rather wait till it's out on bluray, especially if you add up a good Dolby TrueHD capable sound system.. Amazon's price was the best out there, i bought it from Amazon.com on Thanksgiving day for much less than what it is nowadays, however price was fluctuating several times every day for some reason... but it's never been as low since that day!! White Glove delivery (through Pilot) is very good, they went inside unpacked and placed the TV on its stand, they even waited for about 10 minutes while i ran some tests on the TV... To sum it all, this is the best TV money can buy for a reasonable price especially on Amazon.com's best price/service. The 55XBR8 is a better TV but it's 3 times the price with only 3 inches more!

Customer Review: Good tv but quick price drop
This TV is very well made and it has a great picture. This is my second sharp LCD and I probably will stick with sharp for all my LCD needs. The only problem is that I bought this LCD on NOV 28 and it already had two price drops and amazons new policy is to not honor them.
Customer Review: Great HD TV BUT
Great TV. The picture is so clear when watching Blu Ray. The only thing is that you will need a a home theather system. I had the volume all the way up and it was still low. But like my Army Sgt use to tell me, if you are going to do something do it right the first time. If you are buying such a big TV you must buy a blu ray, subscribe to HD channels, and buy a nice home theater system. The 10000:1 contrast ratio is enough. Remember your average theater is showing at 500:1 contrast ratio. The 1080p is also a nice feature but only if you have a Blu Ray which transmits at 1080p. Your average cable company transmits at 480i to 720p. This TV was also very light a feature I was looking for being that I was going to place it on the wall.

Customer Review: Great flat screen TV
Sony Bravia L-Series KDL-37L4000 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV For the price I paid I do not believe anyone can match this purchase. The sale price included shipping, delivery, unpacking and setup where I wanted it. Although it's not the Hi Def 1080p, I really don't notice the difference between 720 and 1080. Perhaps if I were to look really close, I might see some difference, but I am totally satisfied with the great picture this set provides. Also, I highly recommend using the HDMI cable with the TV. (This is not included, but can be purchased at a number of on-line sites at a very inexpensive price. Get two if you're going to use Blue Ray or a DVD player capable of HDMI.) I am not using a separate audio system, but the built-in speaker system is quite adequate. I'm really surprised at how easy it is to customize the desired settings for both picture and sound. To say I'm happy with my purchase is an understatement. Thank you Amazon.com!
Customer Review: Perfect TV for me
We looked a few brands of TV, Vizio, Samsung, and Sony. We found that Sony has the best picture quality, that is, more realistic color and undistorted details. Samsung seems a bit too bright for me. And the size turned out to be perfect for my 12'x12' living room (I originally thought about 42' and 40' TV). we are happy with it.

Customer Review: sony lover
I find this product top notch. Easy to setup an use.Connected to my satellite reciever with hdmi cable beautiful picture, color an detail. M 3rd SONY TV 2ND HI-DEF 50" in greatroom. this in our bedroom.Great tv.
Customer Review: Great product at a great price!
Arrived safely before promised delivery date. Setup was a breeze. Picture quality on digital channels outstanding, analog channels better than previous analog TV (12 year old Sony). I was concerned about picture quality (for example drop-outs on digital channels) because although we are on cable, this particular outlet had been split into three therefore giving weak signal. But the digital channels are incredible. Price I paid was much lower than best offers from Best Buy and Circuit City.

Wide Color Enhancer/Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp

The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72% of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp back lights to give you 92% coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors.

Samsungs exclusive Wide Color Enhancer technology delivers more brilliant colors, even in bright areas of the picture where blues and greens are washed out on conventional screens. Audio Features

TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels. High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the two hidden, downward-firing side-mounted 2.2-channel dome speakers built into the TV.

SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass.

TruSurround XT audio also adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.
  • Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
  • TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
  • The SRS WOW feature widens the sound stage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.
Stereo broadcast reception is offered for MTS and SAP with 181-channel capacity. A sound leveler keeps audio volume consistent during channel changing.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

HDTV Size chart
With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.
If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.
  • Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
  • Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Customer Review: Very Satisified!

Customer Review: What a great deal get im while there hot!!
This is a great tv!!I spent ALOT of hours reviewing tv's and kept coming back to this one! I was thinking of the 120hz tv's but from all the reviews i read most people said they had to turn it off because it made people not look right when they walked. Wierd? So why pay an extra 300 up for something you dont use? Picture is just awesome on hd! I also got the Samsung 2500 blue ray dvd player and watching Dark Knight on this tv gave me goos bumps so clear! Everybody says the sound on this tv is bad, its true but I knew this going in. So I've got everything hooked up to my surround sound. At this price you would be very hard pressed to find a nicer tv! Shipping was great only waited five days. Rumor has that this tv will not be made anymore so get one while you can!Oh yeah also the 650 and 750 do not have anti glare screens wich was the main turn on too this tv!!

    Customer Review: Nice TV
I have had this TV for about a month and I really like it. The picture is clear, the sound is good, the controls are easy to work. It makes a funny chiming sound when you turn it on and off but I read the manual and figured out how to turn that off. For the price, it can't be beat.
Customer Review: Disappointed in audio quality
I purchased the Samsung after my Sony Wega 19" LCD's video display computer board went bad. The Samsung got such good reviews, and there really isn't a lot to choose from in a 19" LCD that was under 16" tall (to fit under my kitchen cabinets), so I chose the Samsung. I like everything about it pretty much except for the audio sound. The speakers are coming from the back of the TV and it sounds very tinny and echo-y. I'm so used to the phenomenal sound of the Sony Wega (which they do not make anymore) that I'm having a hard time getting used to the lower quality audio of the Samsung. I didn't go with the Sony Bravia 19" because of the little stand that is used to prop up the TV and the reviews were low because of that. I'm seriously considering, though, rethinking the Sony Bravia. It's far more expensive, another $80-$100, but I was well-compensated from the extended warranty that I purchased with the original Sony, that the price really isn't a factor. The Sony Wega was a perfect specimen of what a small LCD TV should be...too bad Sony discontinued it.

    Customer Review: LN46A850 review, long
First off let me provide some basic info so you have an understanding of the use, location, and expectations for this TV. Let me state that this is the first HDTV we have ever owned. This is a replacement for a functioning 25" Zenith color console with a rotary dial (only has a flat UHF and VHF input) that we purchased new 25 plus years ago. We have basic cable (Time Warner) that was hooked up to the old TV through a VHS and DVD (separate) player. We started researching HDTV's last year. After information overload from all of the various manufactures as to why they were better we settled on the Samsung brand just to start narrowing it down. After that we took up the Plasma vs. LCD. We settled on the LCD and then quickly narrowed it down to the 46" model based upon our living room layout. We have three interior and one exterior wall, with the exterior wall facing east and is all glass. We have a fireplace at the end of the room and that is where the TV has always set. After all of that was done we were ready to pull the trigger and purchase the LN46A650 but waited for a while ($$). By the time we were ready to purchase, Samsung had just released the 850, 860, and 950. Jump back into research to see what the differences were. Well thin is what we needed to help with the room arrangement so we quickly changed to the 850 (ToC red) / 860 (ToC blue) model. We purchased the 850 on Cyber Monday. It arrived the following Monday. 1. CEVA Logistics, Just after placing my order I received a confirmation from Amazon with the tracking #. Goggled CEVA, placed the tracking # in the main web page to locate the TV and there it was, at the warehouse outside of Harrisburg Pa. I checked it several times that week and followed it through their system. I received a phone call from the local agent on Friday who setup a delivery time on Monday (7 days after the order) for a delivery between 9 and 1. They arrived at about 10:00 with a small urban type delivery truck. The two deliverymen were college aged and friendly. They met me at the door and we inspected the package together. They advised me before stepping into the house that they were only to unpack and check that it powered on. They did just that and there were no issues. I tried to tip them but they politely refused and went on their way. I am mentioning this here as some reviews were all over the place on them. 2. The TV, It was easy to hook up. Screwed in the cable to the back and turned it on. It went through a couple of quick menus and then it was searching for channels. It even tells you on the screen where it is in the process. We only get about 60 basic cable channels so I was quite surprised when it said that it was up to about 150 and still going. Once it reached the end it stated "removing scrambled channels" which brought the number back down. It found all of the HD channels that Time Warner provides free and I never new they were there. 3. Navigating the built in menu system is fairly easy. Once you get the hang of the remote you can set up the entire TV in about 30 minutes (in my case). 4. I will say that the remotes are pretty particular that they are pointed at the lower left side of the screen. One remote has everything on it. The second remote in the box that is pretty basic. It will turn the TV off and on; change the channels and the volume. 5. ToC, this is a non issue in this model. You can barely see it at all and there is no glare that we can detect at all through the sides that affect the picture. 6. The black bezel is extremely glossy and looks spectacular. When our room has all of the lights on you can see the reflections off of it but it has not interfered with our viewing. We mostly have one light on in the room at the far end in the evening and it is not noticeable. Daytime viewing, in the morning the room is brightly lit as it gets the rising sun. The screen is not affected from it. 7. Factory defaults, from the start we left them alone till we had a better feel for the TV. We have been tweaking here and there and believe that everyone can customize to their tastes. The picture is just exceptionally clear and the TV does a great job of adjusting the straight 4:3 broadcast into what ever format you want. I think that there are 5 different settings here (4:3, 16:9, zoom 1, zoom 2, wide fit) and you can set to your tastes. 8. DVD Player, Hooked it up to the TV with component cables as the connection. The player is a 2001 model and is pretty basic. We placed a Star Wars DVD in because of the THX calibration (Google it) and was utterly amazed that it looked that good. We did not do a calibration and left all of the settings alone. The TV has a built in surround sound emulator that can be turned on and off if you do not have external speakers. The sound was absolutely great compared to what we had before. I am sure that it does not match a true 5:1 or 7:1 but in no way is it weak as other reviewers have claimed. 9. Interface to home server through DLNA. I have not had a chance to install the software on the home PC yet. 10. Infolink, The INFOLINK found everything the first time. News, Sports, Weather, and Stocks etc can be programmed fairly easy. Final comments, the channel search found double channels on all of the major broadcast affiliates (NBC, ABC, FOX, ETC). It is easy to go through the menu system and tell which is analog and which is digital. Delete the analog as you can see a major difference in the quality. One can hit an "info" button on the remote and it will give you all of the technical stuff on the channels. I really like the feature that tells you which format the broadcasts are in, 4:3 or 16:9, and the resolution 420i, 720P, 1080i. The HD channels and shows themselves are clearly awesome as you see features on the shows that you have never seen before, blemishes on the actor's faces, individual strands of hair, subtle makeup differences in shades ETC. The swivel stand is nice and the TV itself is not that heavy. It comes with a micro fiber cleaning cloth. Only time will tell if this model will give us the longevity that we are accustomed to. We are totally pleased with our purchase. Thanks GM

Customer Review: Great monitor for the price.
When purchasing this monitor please keep in mind a few things: 1)This is a 24" LCD for people on a budget. 2)It has an odd resolution for its size, 1920x1080 instead of the normal 1920x1200. 3)It has no adjustable height or the ability to swivel into landscape or portrait mode. 4)No built in speakers or USB ports. If you can overlook these 4 things then you're getting a great monitor! Please keep in mind that I am not using this for high end photography or video editing, nor am I playing video games of any sort (I do not use the HDMI port). I'm connected via the DVI port and mainly use it to watch TV shows/movies, resize a few photos here and there, web surfing, and can easily say everything looks gorgeous! You'll definitely have to adjust the brightness and contrast when you first receive it, it's set unnaturally bright, but for the amount I paid this is a great addition for my computer. One of the key things I really like about this monitor is how quickly it goes from standby mode to turning on. Pictures are crisp/colorful and video looks superb. One thing to be very aware of, I'm not sure why Dell decided to do this, but the plastic material used to frame the front of the monitor is extremely glossy and EASILY scratched. In addition it picks up dust like mad, I would highly recommend you get a 3M microfiber cloth or a good soft duster to wipe off the frame. I made the mistake of using a normal cloth and now have scratches lining the top and side of my new monitor. :( If they had just stayed with the normal matte black this wouldn't be an issue, but I guess they're trying to go for an upscale look. As I've only had this monitor for a week I will update my review again later on with any further issues/problems I may encounter. But I like what I see so far. Cheers.

    Customer Review: dissapointing
I some how missed the fact that this tv has NO HDMI connection. That may not be a big deal now, but it will be in months to come. The only other real complaint is that there is no way to bypass the digital sub channels when scrolling up or down. If your station is broadcasting the main ch. and 2 or 3 sub channels this set stops at each one. You can delete the whole group, but not just the subs...I have never seen a TV with this limitation. This problem could have been worked around with a favorites list, but thats not there either. The price and picture are good, but this tv is not in step with modern HD technology.
    Customer Review: came in handy
I bought the TV just for the bedroom and ended up using it as a PC monitor as well as a television set. The built in tuner works great and allows me to get some HD channels that I couldn't get with my set top tuner. Very happy with it. The only downside would be the size. I didn't realize how small a 19 inch TV is because I'm use to my bigger TV in the living room.
